New! GFM Blog Series:
This spring semester, our blog will feature a short, open-topic reflection each Monday (or, ahem, Tuesday, if the Internet is being uncooperative), written by graduate students & faculty members. This week, Krista Rodkey, philosopher, writes on the ways pride can surprise us. Read it here! We’re on the lookout for people willing to post, so if you’re interested, contact Kerilyn Harkaway-Krieger (kharkawa@indiana.edu).
This Week:
Thinking about Faith
will NOT be meeting this Tuesday. Instead, Tim wonders: "I am sorry for this last-minute courveball, but I write to ask whether folks who would otherwise plan to attend this week's *Thinking About Faith* gathering would be able to meet this Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm, instead of the usual Tuesday. (My dept has scheduled a talk by a job candidate for this Tuesday, and so as dept chair, I am obliged to attend.) Please let me know if you would be able to make it. If most can do so, we'll meet on Wed. If not, we'll postpone to next week. Our reading will be ch.4-5 of NT Wright's book, *Surprised By Hope.* Let Tim know if Wednesday will work this week, at the usual time of 7:30 pm and the usual place (3119 S Forrester Street).
Weekly Prayer
will meet on Thursday from 9-10 in the Charter Room.
Men's Group:
On Thursday, February 2nd from 7-9 PM, we're meeting at Josh & Kerilyn's house (3442 N Stoneycrest Rd.) to begin discussing the book "What Makes Life Worth Living" by W. Phillip Keller. For the first meeting, we'll discuss the themes of the first three chapters - Knowing God, Firsthand; The Honor of Honest Work; and, Do What You Do Best--and Love It!; we'll also have a few copies of the book on hand to give out at the first meeting. If you haven't read the chapters, please come anyway as fellowship is the main focus, and we'll also be discussing the themes more than reviewing the book.
Superbowl Party!
It's almost here! Sunday, February 5: We’ll start at 6 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE!) at Dr. Amrita Myers' house and end, well, whenever the game is done. Like last year, we'll have sandwiches from Jimmy John’s, so please bring $3 apiece to pitch in. Amrita and Kerilyn will cover drinks. Those with last names beginning with A-M, please bring a side dish, and N-Z, please bring a dessert. Just a reminder: Amrita prefers no shoes in her home, so if you're more comfortable bringing slippers, or if you're like me and just need to be told when not to wear your holiest socks, here's your heads-up!
